MEENA KHALILI is a native of Washington, D.C. and Assistant Professor at the University of Louisville. She received her BFA in Illustration and her MFA in Visual Communication, Graphic Design from Virginia Commonwealth University, School of the Arts.
Ms Khalili's work crosses boundaries between traditional design and studio art practices. Her research explores typography and language through multimodal media, and focuses on design, illustration, and book art. She is inspired by geography, impermanence, and her experiences as a first generation Iranian-American. She has studied at the Illustration Academy, at the Lorenzo de' Medici School of Art in Florence, Italy, and has conducted many speaking engagements and workshops throughout the U.S. and in Doha, Qatar.
